Green REIT plc’s One Albert Quay in Cork City has been named Commercial Project of the Year 2016 at the Irish Construction Industry Awards.

One Albert Quay is a seven-storey office building with riverside frontage in the heart of Cork City Centre.

One Albert Quay, the six-storey Gold LEED office block, which has become known as Ireland’s smartest building, features some of the latest technology available globally such as destination control lifts and an extensive building management system linking access control, energy efficiency and real-time building data.

The building is now home to the global headquarters of Tyco, which is joined by a number of other tenants including PwC, Hortonworks, Malwarebytes, ARUP, Ardmore Shipping, Investec and Starbucks.

The block was developed by JCD and built by BAM Building.

“It is a great privilege to win this national award and we would like to complement our building contractor, BAM Building, for delivering an excellent building on time and on budget,” said JCD project manager Martin O’Brien.

BAM Building project manager Pat Connolly added: “We are delighted to have won this award and to have delivered such a high profile building at such a unique riverside location in Cork.”
